A kayak festival that convenes competition paddlers, leisure paddlers and novices for an enjoyable, sociable and instructive week of paddling in the beautiful natural surroundings of the Vesterålen islands. For the 2012-race we will separate the Surfski race and the Marathon. Last year, we also split the two races, but they were arranged the same day. This year, we will have the Surfski race on Thursday,- our 'day off'. This will give the other ASKR participants the chanse to follow the race. The Marathon will as usual be run on Friday.

The Race
As I watched Sean's bright orange pfd disappear ahead of me, between the base of a towering mountain and a little rocky outcrop, I knew my race for first place was over. It had been over for a while actually but I couldn't face that fact until then.

Registration will be at Skjellfjord Dock: Sunday 22th of July 2012 between 2:00 and 7:00 p.m.
